This 7-day Germany vacation takes you on a culinary tour across Germany from Frankfurt to Munich to Nuremberg.

Your Germany tours begin in Frankfurt, where you’ll start your journey west and south towards Rudesheim and Heidelberg. Pass through the vineyards on the slopes of the Rhine River before reaching Rudesheim where you’ll learn about local wines and sample some vintages. After a lunch of Rheinischer Sauerbraten (vinegar pot roast), head on to Heidelberg, the country’s oldest university town and home to one of the largest pedestrian areas in all of Germany. After a night enjoying the lively atmosphere of Heidelberg, wind through the Black Forest on the way to Lindau. Stop off at the castle Hohenzollern for a lunch of Kasspatzle (pasta with cheese) before reaching the island of Lindau on Lake Constance, where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Alps and join a wine tasting.

The next day, continue your Germany vacation by leaving the wine region and entering Bavaria, heading for Munich, the state capital. Home to Oktoberfest and Germany’s third-largest city, Munich has a lot to explore during your time here. Get acquainted with its gorgeous medieval architecture in Marienplatz and see the famous clocktower. That evening, head to a local restaurant to dine on iconic Bavarian Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), following it up with a fresh draught of beer. The next day, embark on a walking beer tour of the city’s many microbreweries, experiencing the many flavours and malts of this world beer capital. You’ll also visit the Hofbrauhaus and the beer museum, and taste more than a few brews along the way.

Pass on to Nuremberg, the second largest city in Bavaria and one of the country’s most important political centres. In Nuremberg, you’ll join a baking class to hear stories about German cuisine and learn to make famous Nuremberg gingerbread. The next day, explore the city’s historic old town, admiring the Gothic churches, medieval houses, and preserved castles, including the Kaiserburg. After touring the old town, join another cooking class to learn how to prepare famous Bavarian bratwursts in multiple ways.

On the final leg of your travel to Germany, you’ll head to Rothenburg, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the region. Enjoy a sightseeing tour through the medieval old town and cap off your time in Germany with a lunch of famous potato dumplings. You’ll then return to Frankfurt for your flight home or to continue your onward journey.
